The two cars, however, have different requirements which reflect the use of as many propellers. The hatchback confirmed rumors last week and take the 1.4 Multiair (approved Euro 5), in a version of 165 hp and 250nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Thus powered,

2002 Ford Ranger FX4 XLT SupercabFor truck lovers who want a little more toughness in their already rugged pickup trucks, Ford has the answer for you.

The 2002 Ford Ranger features the new FX4 premium off-road package, which is built on the four-door SuperCab chassis. Ford first promised this when the Ranger was redesigned for the 2001 model year, and now delivers it.

According to the automakers, one of the benefits of this package is that owners do not have to purchase a lot of aftermarket parts to toughen the truck for off-road adventures. This is for the most part true, as Ford has done a good job outfitting the Ranger with many off-road features that enthusiasts of this type of vehicle covet. This includes:

Compared to the flagship Passat and the trendy Beetle, the Jetta is smaller and sportier offering a lively driving experience wrapped in a classically styled package.

2001-bmw-5-series-sedanSometimes the saying, “You get what you pay for” is not completely true. Take the BMW 525i, for example. There is no doubt about it; the 525I sedan is a joy to drive, and with a base price of $35,400, compares favorably to other cars in its class, such as the Volvo S80, Saab 9-5 and Audi A6.

But once you load it will all the extras, it becomes too expensive. You definitely do not get what you pay for in this case. The extra options simply are not worth it.

If you can live without extras such as a power sunroof ($1050), heated front seats (part of a $600 cold weather package), then the 525i with minimal options is a great choice when looking for a luxury sedan. In the case of the 525i, less (options) is better (value).

For the right sticker price, the 525i is an excellent choice in the luxury sedan category. It offers a thrilling performance, excellent ride quality and superb handling that made me look forwad to starting up the engine every time I got behind the wheel.

Rhythm and Blues

?Well it?s one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, now go cat go and don?t you step on my blue suede shoes, you can do anything but lay off of my blue suede shoes.?

It?s not often I would start the review of a world class sports sedan with Carl Perkins penned and Elvis voiced lyrics, but sitting behind the wheel of the 2002 Audi S4 it seems strangely appropriate. In fact if I didn?t know better, I would think the blue suede, (Alcantara) inserts on the seats and door panels, matching the ?Oh so bright!? Nogaro Blue Pearl exterior, were chosen as an inside joke by the Audi designers of the S4. If this is the case, I?m laughing with joy all the way to the next curve in the road.

You see, a little more than a decade ago Audi was considering saying goodbye to the North American market. In other words, Elvis was about to leave the building. The late 80?s were dark years, and to this day I still hear comments to the fact Audi vehicles are expensive to maintain and generally unreliable. A concern which in this millennium rings less true with every new vehicle they introduce. These days there is sustainable comfort in having an Audi underfoot.

2001-audi-allroad-quattro What happens when you cross a curve-craving sports sedan with a mud-loving sport-utility vehicle? Designers working for the German automaker Audi tried to mix these two seemingly disparate concepts, one a sleek pavement speeder that slinks snug against asphalt, the other a boxy off-road machine hiked high in the suspension in order to clear rough stuff on the trail.

What they produced in this hybrid cross is the Allroad, although in Audi’s lingo, capitalizing a product’s name is often shunned so it becomes simply the allroad.

It’s a slick design based on Audi’s mid-size A6 avant (an Audi term that signifies station wagon styling), but rigged with a wider track and variable-height pneumatic suspension, different body panels with protective armor cladding and a luxurious passenger compartment draped in supple leathers, glossy hardwoods and touches of satin-finished aluminum.

2002 X-Type:
While some automotive wags have already christened this new car as a “Baby Jag,” there’s nothing diminutive about the performance of the X-Type: It’s strong and forceful at high speed, agile like an athlete when steered around a twisty route, plush in cockpit appointments and elegantly styled in the Jaguar tradition.

The cabin contains twin front bucket seats and a rear bench for two or three, plus extensive touches of luxury and sophisticated electronic controls.

Two different aluminum-block V6 engines breathe life into the newest Jag. 2002-jaguar-x-type-side-view1

The price-leading entry edition — X-Type 2.5 — contains a 2.5-liter six that produces 194 hp. A second twin-cam aluminum V6 displaces 3.0-liters and drops into the X-Type 3.0, with as much as 231 hp at play.

To illustrate Jaguar’s intent to promote the X-Type as a sporty performance car, a manual five-speed transmission is available with either engine.

2002-jaguar-x-type-insideA five-speed automatic, rigged with Jaguar’s J-pattern gate for automatic as well as clutch-less manual shifts, is also offered. It’s an option for the 2.5-liter plant but serves as the standard on the 3.0 six.

2002-acura-rsx2002 Acura RSX Type-S

People who want superior performance at an attractive price know to look at Acura Type-S models, with their powerful engines and reasonable cost. The all-new RSX Type-S, the smallest and less expensive Acura is no exception to this rule. In addition, the RSX features styling sure to please younger buyers, who are exactly the target audience for this car.

The Type-S version of the RSX, which is the old Integra with a new name, has a couple of numbers that stand out: 200 horsepower and a reasonable price. Throw in the easy-shifting six-manual transmission, and the RSX delivers loads of fun for driving enthusiasts.

The 2.0-liter Type-S engine is rated to 200 horsepower and 143 pound-feet of torque. Despite the low torque output, the engine still delivers great performance through the entire spectrum when revving. The standard RSX features the same engine but rated only to 160 horsepower.
Adding to the driving experience is the responsive steering and taut suspension. The RSX features a variable assist rack-and-pinion power steering system that delivers accurate, tight steering around corners and when changing lanes.
