Volvo and Th Pink will carry 600,000 vehicles in the U.S. for hybrid batteries

a35Ener1, a unit of Volvo and partners Th! Nk Global will invest 237 million dollars in a factory in the U.S. for the production of batteries dedicated to the automotive sector. The structure will have a production capacity of 600,000 batteries for hybrid cars or 60,000 for all-electric car. EnerDel said it wants to install this new facility as close as possible to Indianapolis, home to the headquarters of the company. 

Will be used for both private funds but also public incentives to support this new production plant, also under environmental value for the future of the automotive sector. The list of partner companies of Ener1 include names like Volvo, Nissan, Mazda, in addition to the aforementioned Swedish Th! Nk. Among the customers, however, even the U.S. military which produces batteries for the prototype of a hybrid Humvees currently in testing.

The batteries made in this factory will also be used for the Swedish electric supermini Th! Nk that in addition to point to the U.S. territory, has recently announced the commercialization of his car in some European markets (Austria, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland). Moreover, it was the first manufacturer to have obtained the new certificate Euro IV, launched by the European Community to promote the spread of an electric car.
